Coaching Education Program (CEP) - Course Descriptions
A detailed description of each of the CEP courses and learning opportunities offered by AYSA
Youth Modules I & II
YM1- D IV; YM2- DIII minimum requirement
All candidates must pre-register with AYSA 10 days prior to the schedule start date of the course. If a minimum of 12 candidates is not pre-registered on time, the course may be canceled. The maximum number of candidates will be determined by the size of the facility and the availability of instructors needed to maintain a good candidate to instructor ratio. These courses are specifically designed for the under 6, under 8, under 10 & under 12 age group players. The 4-hour courses combine both classroom and field sessions to illustrate age appropriate coaching/teaching techniques.
Topics covered:
* an introduction to coaching
* Philosophy of coaching in regard to the specific age group player
* Characteristics of the specific age group player
* Team Management & Administration
* Risk Management
* Care and Prevention of Soccer Injuries
* Modified laws of the game
* Developmentally and age appropriate Field Activities and Games
Prerequisites:
* An Open Mind and a desire to give the children the best soccer experience possible
* A Minimum age of 14 years old
* Candidates must attend all scheduled course sessions.
* Certification received: Age group specific State Module Certificate
* This includes a coach workbook, and USYSA curriculum.
