INFORMATION ABOUT OUR COACHING COURSES:

We have Coaching courses generally before the beginning of each season.
Late July/ August and again in January/February.   Occasionally a club will request a session for their club (which always allows others to register).
We never know who will agree to host a clinic more than a month or so ahead.

We will probably have the clinics to be held in Jan/Feb available for registration sometime in December. Please check the website under COACHING/COACHING EDUCATION weekly for any possible updates. Once the course is on the website you will be able to register online.

Alabama State Coaching Certificate (minimum requirement to coach DII or asst with DI)  This course can replace the "E" course for those coaches who wish to coach or assist with a DI or DII team.  However, this license will NOT allow the coach to advance to the "D" course.  Those coaches who wish to continue with their National Licenses will have to take the "E".

As of January 1st 2012 the requirements to undertake a USSF E-License changed.
Prior to this the E-License was a non-testable course.
It has now become a testable course that requires the testing to take place 6-months after completion of the course. It has now become a pass or fail course.

As the E-License was the minimum requirement to be a head coach of a division two team and an assistant coach of a division one team, AYSA has now created a “State Coaching Certificate”. This course is a 12-hour course.
The policy has been changed to reflect that a State Coaching Certificate is now the minimum requirement to coach a division two team or to be an assistant coach on a division one team.
Coaches that received an E-License prior to January 1st 1012 are “grandfathered” into the new E-License.

COURSE FEE $65.00

NEW    USSF "E" Certificate Course (no coaching course prerequisites, candidates must be at least 16 yrs of age) There will be no waivers through the E course.
Schedule will be updated according to USSF Rules  the "E will be an 18 hour course.  There will be pre-course material online that will be required.  Following the initial 18 hours, all candidates will return for testing after a 6month period and they will receive an "E" based on a Pass or Fail grade.

If you are interested in hosting a course please contact Gwynne Williams
If you have problems with registering for a course or have questions please contact Martha Disko

There will be courses scheduled for this winter. Please keep checking this website for updates.

Designed to meet the needs of today’s modern youth soccer coach, Alabama Youth Soccer has established a comprehensive Coaching Education Program that offers a USSF-approved curriculum of courses for the "Youth Module", "E", and "D" licenses. Through this effort, Alabama Youth Soccer provides:

• A program in which coaches can earn state and national coaching credentials
• A system which improves a coach’s knowledge of the game, methodology, and teaching methods
• Valuable information and current coaching trends state-wide, nationally, and internationally

The objective of the coaching licensing curriculum is to provide all soccer coaches, from the beginner to the advanced, with up-to-date theoretical and practical knowledge, so that coaches in Alabama can help ensure that players develop their fullest potential.

All courses are taught by Alabama Youth Soccer State Staff Coaches who hold a National Coaching License. "D" Clinic instructors hold either an "A" or "B" National Coaching License. Youth Module instructors hold a National Youth License. All courses must be scheduled through the Alabama Youth Soccer State Office. A list is maintained at the State Office and posted on our website. The "E" and "D" courses are also offered in Spanish. Individuals wishing to attend a course or clubs, leagues wishing to host a course may do so by contacting Alabama Youth Soccer.

The philosophy of the coaching program is to help you gain the most information from the courses, staff coaches teach the essentials of soccer in an optimal way. All candidates actively participate in field sessions. Approximately two-thirds of each course is comprised field sessions and the remaining one-third as lectures. The intensity of the field sessions is directly related to the level of the course. The higher the course, the more hours required on the field.
